Advocacy Areas
Private Property Rights
The National Landowners Federation is committed to protecting the rights of property owners across the country. As a fundamental tenet of our Nation’s guarantees, we believe that landowners should have the ability to develop their land as they see fit, as long as their activity does not encroach on their neighbor’s ability to do the same. Whether it’s agriculture, energy, or infrastructure, we stand with landowners to protect their right to develop and prosper.
Energy
Abundant, affordable energy is vital to our quality of life, and we support energy development on private property. This includes but is not limited to oil, natural gas, wind, solar, energy storage, and other emerging technologies within the energy sector. Landowners should have the ability and right to utilize their land for these activities if they so choose. We further believe that landowners actively participating with energy developers form a strategic alliance that helps bolster our nation’s national security. We work with landowners and those companies with which they have partnered to develop our nation’s energy resources.
Agriculture
Many of our members participate in providing food and fiber to the world, and we support pro-agriculture policies at the local, state, and federal levels. Onerous regulations that thwart our member’s ability to successfully provide agricultural resources to the nation are a direct threat to national security as well as an accelerator of the affordable food scarcity that already exist in our states. Food Insecurity is a pressing quality of life issue that the NLF takes great pride in addressing in local communities and states across the country.
Water Infrastructure
Fresh water is essential to life. Depending on the region or state, water resources vary dramatically, but in many of our most active states drought is a prevalent and growing issue. Infrastructure must be developed to address the water needs of America in the coming decades, and landowners may be impacted by proposed investments. The NLF is committed to working on local, state, and federal water policy that addresses the immediate and long-term needs of our country to have a stable and sustainable water supply.
